This fine Lega Idimu mask, with its typically heart-shaped face, bears traces of old pigmentation. The mask exhibits a beautiful worn, smooth surface patina to its front and back.
In major performances, the Idimu mask was hung from fences surrounded by all the smaller, individually owned Lukwakongo masks that belong to those in attendance. The mask represents the source of man, who brought the higher Bwami levels to the community.
