With its circular-shaped eyes, broad nose and wide gaping mouth, this mask, likely coming from the Nbaka or related culture of North-Eastern DRC, has a wonderful primal expression. The eye sorckets, with one larger than the other, are surrounded by traces of caline. There are holes to the upper and lower jaw and the surface is dry and worn specially around the browls and ridges of the nose, eyes and mouth. There has been a traditional restoration, using traces of dried wax, to the lower section of the jaw.
